Welcome to the Cambridge Women's Center Trauma Support Group.
Our mission is to create a safe and welcoming environment for women who have experienced any kind of trauma. We hold weekly support meetings that are inclusive to all who identify as women or nonbinary. Newcomers are always welcome to the group, an RSVP is not required, and it’s free to attend. We would love to have you join us.
COVID-19 Update
We understand that there is much concern about COVID-19, and our top priority is keeping our community safe and healthy. While the Cambridge Women’s Center is open for limited hours, all large groups (including the Trauma Group) are not being held in person for the foreseeable future. We will be adhering to this precaution, and all Trauma Group meetings for 2021-2023 will be held virtually via Zoom.
Dial-in information is included in the events listed on our calendar. In light of this information, we ask you to keep the following points in mind as we navigate this new territory together:
1. Method: Feel free to join by video, computer with audio only, or phone. We recommend video to get closer to the full experience of the group, but we recognize that folks have different connectivity situations, and welcome participation in whatever way is accessible for you. If joining by computer, you may need to install zoom. This will be automatically prompted once you click on the link, and should take less than 5 mins.
2. Setting: If possible, we recommend taking the call from a secluded, quiet place to help protect confidentiality and minimize disruptions. We recognize this is not always possible, and encourage everyone to use headphones and to mute themselves when not talking to mitigate these concerns
3. Confidentiality: Given the nature of videoconferencing, we cannot guarantee the confidentiality of a virtual meeting, and encourage folks to keep this in mind. At the same time, we are relying on each member to protect the sanctity of the group. As such, we ask everyone to do their best to ensure that they take the call in a private area, use headphones, and (hopefully this goes without saying) DO NOT record or take screenshots.
4. Format: We will try to stick to our usual format. So we will start with group guidelines, introductions, a quick check in, and then move on to the topic. We ask that folks make every effort to be on time in order to minimize disruptions. The group will still run from 7-9 PM ET.
5. Patience: We are trying this method for the first time, and there will definitely be hiccups and kinks to work out. Please bear with us, and feel free to offer any suggestions / raise any concerns you may have as we navigate this platform together.
